Overview
The A8 is the king of Audi's luxury sedans, packed with lots of tech including autonomous driving features and luxury options. It's a luxury limousine that's perfect for those who want the utmost in comfort without drawing unwanted attention with something more ostentatiously styled.
Engines, Ride, and Handling
The standard A8 comes with the same turbocharged V-6 that's helped out by an electric motor to produce 335 horsepower; a 460-hp twin-turbo V-8 with the same system is optional. We've only tested the V-6 so far, but at our test track it sprinted from zero to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds. The big A8 offers a very Audi-like blend of athleticism and ride comfort. An adjustable air suspension is standard and helps isolate occupants from road irregularities; the available Dynamic drive mode stiffens up the suspension and improves cornering attitudes but never allows harsh impacts through to the cabin.
Infotainment and Technology
Impressive passenger space is an A8 hallmark and its long wheelbase ensures that rear-seat passengers are accommodated nicely. The interior is made from fine materials and can be equipped with all manner of luxury options, including front and rear massaging seats, a foot warmer for rear-seat passengers, and individual entertainment tablets in the back. As with the A8's exterior, the interior styling is sober and not as lavish as the Mercedes-Benz S-class, but it's quite high tech; nearly all features are controlled via various touchscreens, all of which are intuitive to use. Driver-assistance features play a huge role here, too, with next-level tech such as night vision and a remote-parking mode as optional extras.
